My Driving...
I think I am a terrible driver. I only managed to pass after 3 tries... and I think the 3rd can pass is because the tester pity me...
Then 2 weeks after I got my licence, my car hit a pillar in Simei East Point's carpark, with my whole family in it, caused my mother to scream and a small dent on the front bumper. Lucky don't need change bumper.
1 month after the hit pillar incident, I drove my company's car over a curb in Expo's carpark. 2 guys from another car had to stop over and help me carry the car up and back to the road. HR screamed at me and I had to send the car for repair, causing my boss's aunt, who drives the car home everyday, to not be able to drive home that day. Repairs caused me $350 and lost of company car usage.
Then for a while I stopped trying to drive, but still... I have to try... so I did... I was really careful... BUT now after 1 year and 3 months... I'm getting into situations again.
Mum went to Beijing with my aunt's family. They left last Friday and will be back tomorrow. I will have the car all to myself for one week. So I drove the car everywhere. It was fun but I'm a danger on the road.
First incident, happened on the day my mum passed me the car, Henmond and I had to attend a wedding at Expo, so mum told us to drive and she will take the cab to the airport. (Plane is at 12 midnight). After the wedding, I was very relaxed, just called my mum, they just reached the airport, told her I will call her again when I reached home. I was talking to Henmond as I drove the car out of the carpark (I always cock up in carparks), had to turn left to go to Tampines, I really don't know what I was doing, I turned the car into the wrong lane (if there was any car there then, I will be facing it head on... if you can get what I mean...) Lucky no one, I can revense and turn back to the correct lane. Freaked Henmond out. Mum have not left Singapore yet... but she wasn't have to know. Hey! at least I was calm.
Second incident happened when I was exiting IMM's carpark. (Carpark AGAIN!), there was 2 lane to exit, I took the inter lane, but realised that my lane can only turn right but I need to turn left, I tried cutting into the next lane but the TCS van driver refused to let me cut then I had to turn at my own lane, by then my car overshot a bit liao, but I still tried to turn then I think really too close so I revense abit (scare hit the car behind me) and tried turning again, but my car did not move... up till now I still don't know why, but I tried another time before I managed to turn out. By then my lane alot of cars waiting and I was afraid I might have hit my bumper again, but I did not hear any 'bang' ma, so there shall not be any problem. When I got to my Da GuoMa place at Orchard, I forgot to talk a look at the bumper. By the time I left her place, I was in a hurry, did not look again cause I leaving the car there while I go to class, save parking charges ma.
Because of my forgetfulness, the third incident happened that night. I promised to drive Vincent home that night if he walk with me to my GuoMa's place to get the car. When we got onto CTE, there was a jam, lots of cars and then suddenly a car passing me on the left, the driver signalled to Vincent and started pointing to the front of my car. We did not understand what that driver meant, but there must be something very obvious for another driver to point out to us ma. Then I started to get real worried caused I forgot to check my bumper just now and now I'm afraid the bumper might be hunging out and might fall off the car, then I'll be dead meat when my mum comes back. We wanted to stop at the road shoulder to check but the traffic was too heavy and I could not cut lanes. I was in panick as the car got onto PIE, we were still guessing what happened to the front bumper when Vincent told me actually just now when the driver first signalled him, his first thought was that my headlights was not on, but he quickly thought again that I won't be that careless... when I heard he said that, I finally realised I was really that careless and forget to on my headlights...
Friends asked me how can I forget to on headlights, won't I feel that it is too dark? But I want to say, Singapore roads are all so well lighted that I did not need any headlights, plus my car headlight is usually auto one, just that that afternoon I offed it will I was in IMM carpark cause my car was the only car with headlights on. The carpark was well lighted, but my car headlight when auto on as long as it is indoors. So I off them and forgot to switch back to auto later...
Mum's going back tomorrow, don't think I will tell her all my car adventures this week... scare she won't let me drive again.
